Come kick up a little dust at the annual SBYC June Dinner Dance featuring Rick’s Bar from Casablanca. Can you say “Play it Sam” through gritted teeth just like Bogey? Or maybe you fancy yourself more of a Rudy Valentino as the Sheik of Araby? Can you sing like Maria Muldaur? Have you ever been on the Marrakesh Express? Or maybe you want to wear two humps and spit!
Whatever way you choose to express your inner oasis dweller, you’ll be right at home as we celebrate in our own little Oasis at the Kingston YC, Saturday June 5th.
Dinner will be inspired by Moroccan and other North African cuisine; maybe your costume will be too. And we can expect the band to Rock the Kasbah as we dance our way to midnight.
Your reservations to the June dinner dance may be made in advance at either the April or May dinner meetings and will guarantee you the low price of just $40 per person. This is the event where it is the most important to sign up early as we have to buy the right amount of food and drinks to minimize the balance of the expenses that the club picks up. Wait until the last minute and we’ll charge you $45 at the door, so don’t wait to get your reservation in!
And since as we know that “Time Goes By” we have an urgent request that if you are sailing your boat to Kingston for the night, please make your moorage reservations now! Another club is apparently having an event in Kingston the same weekend, and there will be competition for the guest moorage spots. They have four 50 ft slips, ten 40 ft slips and ten 30 ft slips that can be reserved. There are also ten first-come-first-served slips available. You pay the first night’s moorage when you make the reservation, refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead (in the past the refund is usually in the form of first-come, first-served moorage at Kingston to use within six months). The number to call is the Kingston Marina at (360) 297-3545.
If you have already volunteered to help with the planning, thank you very much. If not, there is still room for more volunteers at the event. Contact Chris Powell at a dinner meeting or email the Cruise Chair.
